Lang Creek Update

Hello Salmon Enhancement Community. Just a quick update to let you all know that there has been a wave of Chinook come into Lang Creek over the last 24hrs. There is now over 1300 Chinook that have returned and 2300 Coho. Pink numbers are at 1400. Our crews have been working around the clock to insure the fish safe passage and to maintain accurate fish counts.

The brood facility is coming up to  full carrying capacity now and so the station is only open when we are sorting fish. The fish collected for brood stock are calmest when kept in the dark.

There is lots to see at Lang Creek with salmon in the river and spawning channel. We look forward to seeing you and would like to extend a big thank-you to all of our volunteers that have been helping sort fish.

Cheers

Shane

Just love it and that big rain sure brought the fish in — too bad that I don’t have the time to check it out or do some off shore fishing. It was a bit hard casting against the 23 km wind so I just watched the fish go by to be counted.
    Just love it!

It is great to see the numbers come back strong again this year! I trust we are seeing the same large fish as usual. I hope they have been more cooperative to the local anglers than is some past years.

I miss the gang back at the PRSS, they are the best at what they do.

Take care from the soon to be much cooler north.

Thanks Hugh! Yes, there has been some enormous fish return to the river. There has also been some monsters caught. One taken just off Lang weighed in at 52lbs and two more reported that broke the 40lbs mark. Long live the Lang Creek Tyee!
