August 2014

A new brood year is here ! The Lang Creek counting station is now in operation.

Fish returns in August have been as anticipated for the most part given our sunny weather and low water levels. By month end our temperatures where 16 degrees Celsius which is the norm at the mouth of the Creek.

Maintenance lists are being completed just ahead of full hatchery brood operations for 2014.

Our Mill Hatchery project has not yet been completed. We continue to wait for our contractor to put the finishing touches on the project that will see a significant increase in our available rearing space. To the best of our knowledge Powell Rivers Hatchery is the largest in capacity amongst 21 CEDP hatcheries in BC.
