Some interesting concerns on commercial crabbing in our area. It would be nice to see a response from DFO on this matter. Please have a read DFO.11.14.2014

As the letter mentions, Ocean Dragon sets about 15-20 traps, this number should read 50 -75 just in the Lang Bay area alone. Personally I have not caught a single legal sized crab in the entire 6 months Ocean Dragon has been setting traps in this area. I have stopped putting traps out because of this and I am not alone. With a string of nets this size, strung parallel to the shore during mating season, how can the crab population even recover from complete wipeout. This is an abuse of resources and something needs to be done about it.
