SALMON GARDEN MAKEOVER
ATTENTION TO ALL FRIENDS OF THE LANG CREEK NATIVE PLANT GARDEN
and PRSS MEMBERS
We would like everyone to be aware that a makeover of the “Salmon Garden” which features the
metal sculptures, will soon be underway. The grasses which were planted originally did not thrive as
expected, so we would like to start fresh.
The project will involve the removal of the metal fish and the supporting rods. Our plan is to work up
the area with a machine and bring in more soil to rebuild the garden bed. An assortment of larger, more
mature ornamental grasses will be planted February 2016.
All grasses will be donated by Ewan MacKenzie of Exemplar Horticulture Ltd. Additional irrigation
will be installed, and wheelchair access will be developed.
This is an important project to us because the “Salmon Garden” pays homage to wild salmon 365
days of the year. It also provides our many visitors from around the world with a beautiful, dramatic,
entrance to Lang Creek centre.
If you would like to make a cash donation to the project, or volunteer for a work party, please contact a
Steering Committee member.
