January 2016

The Powell River Salmon Society Classroom Incubator Program focuses on salmon, biology and stewardship. We encourage educators to integrate science with social studies.  Hands-on participation and the knowledge gained in salmon biology and environment are critical building blocks toward fostering a strong understanding of stewardship.  Stewardship means “making informed decisions and taking appropriate actions to protect and conserve all plants and animals who share our planet.”

In the Pictures above Dianne Sanford with the Department of Fisheries and Oceans delivering lessons and  discussing “what are the components of good habitat for salmon”.

Dianne takes students through a lesson in anatomy of a salmon, and what specializations they have for survival in their environment.
