Membership Invite

May 21, 2016

Dear Powell River Salmon Society Member:

Wild salmon need our help; the Powell River Salmon Society needs your help.

The Powell River Salmon Society (PRSS) has been working towards the conservation of one of the most precious species to our coastal marine environment – wild salmon. We are at an important cross roads for our Society, and we encourage you to come out to our Annual General Meeting on June 6, 2016.

PRSS has built an awesome base. With the upcoming change to the B.C. Societies Act, together with the financial challenges faced by PRSS, we need to ensure that we maintain the right focus and build the right structures to ensure that the PRSS’ goals are sustainable over the long term.

Being a member of the PRSS isn’t just about buying a membership, helping out as a volunteer is essential to our survival and growth. There is an awesome amount of volunteers in Powell River that puts in over 15,000 hours each year helping PRSS achieve its goals.

The local sports fishing community has benefitted greatly from the efforts of the PRSS. We continue to raise as many as 2,000,000 salmon fry, over 12,000 pounds, for release into our local waters.

Living in Powell River finds us blessed in many ways but one item that stands out most is how local people support local causes. We know most people prefer that their donations go fully to the local causes they care most about. By donating direct to the Powell River Salmon Society, you can be assured all of your donation will stay in Powell River.

We are a registered charity and any donation made by you will receive a tax deductible receipt.  Our Registration No. is: 1190976240001

Please come out to the Annual General Meeting and meet the Board of Directors, renew your membership and consider other ways you can contribute to helping our local salmon enhancement efforts.
