We held our AGM on June 6th and as a result would like to welcome to our board Ian Fleming, Brad Carolei, and Rene Babin. The Powell River Salmon Society would also like to thank outgoing director Doug Fuller for his service to our organization. Doug served on our board for 10 years.
Our Duck Lake Water Distribution Project is now nearly complete. Excavation, plumbing, tank construction, hook up, and finally the test run! There will still be some painting and final landscaping to finish up in July.
We would like to thank the Pacific Salmon Foundation for funding this project. Click on the above logo to visit the Pacific Salmon Foundation website.
The project improves the supply of water to our rearing containment and our incubation at our Duck Lake Hatchery.
Existing infrastructure was more than 30 years old. We have added rearing containment and incubation over the years and therefor needed to improve the delivery of water to our rearing units and incubators.
The past water distribution box was initially designed to feed two raceways. Over the years it supplied two raceways, and a host of other rearing containers and incubation that was added to accommodate increased biomass.
Expected results to come from this project include:
Improved water distribution to rearing and incubation units
Improved control of water delivered from the pipelines
Decreased risk of water loss during hatchery production cycles
It was a very busy month. Check out June 2016
