August 2017

“We have now begun our new production cycle (brood 2017) Our adult counting fence has been put into operation. Lower than normal flows at Lang Creek have been and will continue to be closely monitored”

Flows at Lang Creek increased significantly in late August when the municipality cleaned the water supply line at the Haslam Sloughs. This sudden release of water can be harmful to fish during the warm summer months. The sudden increase in flow can draw fish into the river sooner than they might come naturally. The water temperature in the river also increases when the flow is increased. The below graph is an illustration of flows and temperatures in late August. Click on the graph for a clearer picture.
