Grieg Seafood is an aquaculture company who’s farm sites in Canada are located on the east and west coast of Vancouver Island, and on the mainland north of Vancouver in British Columbia. Recently Grieg Seafood contributed $5000 to the Powell River Salmon Society. These funds will go directly towards fish food for our hatchery.

The bulletin which Stewart has asked me to share, corrects the misinformation that has gone out.

He caught “One of our own!” These fish are easily recognizable. Shiny, large and yes you guessed it….a Lang Creek Tyee!!
John had this to say about the event:
“This fish was caught Sunday Afternoon by Scotch Fir Point fought well for 10 minutes till it got to the boat, had a look at the boat then took off screaming for about another 12 to 15 minutes until he was finally in the net . We had caught another spring [9lbs-4oz] about 1/2 hour before this one. Great way to spend a beautiful afternoon.”
Well John, this is clearly the case of good karma. You have given so much to our organization it was bound to happen. Thanks for your help, and I hope you catch another!

These fish will now rear and imprint on the Lang Creek watershed ! When loading the fish into a transport tank we make use of a fish pump. Here is a video of the “fish pumping”.
